Wedding garters are one of the oldest wedding traditions. Wedding garters remain an important part of the bridal outfit. There are many theories around the significance of wedding garters but the latest reason why brides like to wear a wedding garter is because the garter is kept as a family heirloom then borrowed from other couples to bring good luck to their wedding. Due to an old Victorian rhyme, it is traditional for many brides to wear "something borrowed, something blue" on their wedding day. The borrowed garter signifies the transfer of happiness from a happily married woman to a new bride, while the blue item symbolises purity and fidelity.
At Olivier Laudus Design we are proud to sell only handmade wedding garters. We can also customise most of our garters and add ‘something blue’ wherever possible. We have wedding garters which feature Swarovski crystals, pearls and beautiful satin or silk bows.
We also offer the Heather garter for Scottish brides made of luxury cotton lace and tartan with a satin bow and ab glass bead. The Shallon wedding garter has a double layer of organza enclosing a central satin ribbon, decorated with a tiny satin bow and your choice of a beautiful 1cm aquamarine blue Swarovski crystal heart or a crystal teardrop in clear AB or aquamarine. Part of our diamante garters we have the Stella garter with sheer organza and satin decorated with a glitzy silver or gold diamante buckle. The Rosa wedding garter is decorated with an organza and pearl flower.
