How to choose the perfect bridal earrings?

Earrings are a wonderful way to add a little glamour and sparkle to your wedding dress but when it comes to choosing the right pair, there are a few points to consider:

  • Match your earrings to your face shape

Round face: Long drop or dangle earrings will elongate your face and make it look slimmer. Avoid large circular earrings or hoops which will emphasize roundness.

Long narrow face: If you have a long thin face, choose earrings that emphasize the width of your face. Round earrings, clustered earrings and short dangly earrings will generally widen your face.

Square face: to soften the jaw lines choose earrings that are medium to long with rounded edges. Stay away from angular or square shaped earrings.

Oval shaped face: You’re in luck! You can wear almost any shape but triangular earrings or simple studs will show off your cheekbones best.

  • Think about your dress

Vintage style dresses are still a big part of bridal fashion. When it comes to choosing jewellery to complement a lace dress, pearl earrings combined with a touch of sparkle is a match made in heaven.

If you have opted for a simple satin dress or a figure hugging gown then the world is your oyster. Statement simulated diamond earrings (choose the right shape for your facial features) like long drops or chandeliers will add instant glam.

  • Do’s and don’ts

  • Don’t wait till the last minute to choose your jewellery. Once you have chosen your dress it’s time to look for accessories and jewellery.

  • Do accessorize your bridesmaids. Bridesmaid dresses are usually made of satin and fairly simple in terms of design so adding a pair of sparkly earrings to their outfit will completely transform their outfit. Give them a choice of 3 pairs which are in line with the wedding theme.

  • Don’t over accessorize. If your dress has a lot of lace, choose a pair of delicate pearl and diamante drop earrings and a bracelet made of similar materials. Also choose only 3 types of accessories: Statement earrings, hair piece (preferably at the back of the head) and bracelet (no necklace with statement earrings unless the emphasis is on the jewellery).

  • Do go big (big can be detailed) especially if your hair is down. If you flick through bridal magazines, you will notice that most dress designers accessorize their models with statement earrings.
